When starting an illustration, I go through several steps to help guide me through the process. First I brainstorm different ideas, and then begin by sketching a series of thumbnails. After choosing the strongest concept, I continue on to do value and color studies. From there, the drawing issues are worked through, and I’m ready to begin painting the illustration.
